It seems things are soon going to changes in Scotland as reports indicated that there would be a minimum pricing set for alcohol. It is being done to cater to the growing concern of cheap alcohol taking toll over the life of many Scottish.

It was in the last week that Scottish Health Secretary Nicola Sturgeon made an announcement, "Cheap alcohol comes at a price and now is the time to tackle the toll that Scotland's unhealthy relationship with alcohol is taking on our society”.

It is believed that the move to set the price at 50p would be able to reduce the number of hospital admissions and subsequent deaths, thereby making it all the more clear that the move has been taken to seriously address the growing menace of cheap alcohol. It has been estimated by a team from the Sheffield University that there would be reduction of 60 deaths and 1,600 fewer hospital admissions would be reported, from the current move.

There are fair chances that a minimum price of 40p per unit would be set for England and Wales in the time to come. There is need that some concrete plan is being chalked out so that the underlying issues are being dealt with utmost attention.
