In a recent report, it has been claimed that there would be some changes applied in the way NHS funds would be allocated in different regions. As of now, the poorest regions get the maximum amount of funds, but with the new technique being under discussion, there are chances that a considerable amount of funds would be shifted to richer areas with older populations.

As of now, NHS funding is being directed by a number of factors like the standardised mortality rate etc but there is need for some changes to be incorporated to improve the situation, as per the government.

It is believed that this redistribution of funds could make things a lot worst in the time to come. Critics are of the view that move is influenced to strengthen position of the government in certain regions, but it is being totally defended by Health Secretary Andrew Lansley. He is of the view that it appears that the right time has come to bring in some required changes in the way NHS funds are being distributed.

“Wherever you are in the country you should broadly have resources equivalent with access to NHS services”, he further added. There is need for a fair system to be developed so that every single patient can access to the best possible healthcare services.
