As per recent reports, it has been declared that Canadian Food Inspection Agency has detained and isolated a B. C. salmon farm due to presence of virus, which is expected to spread violently. It has been reported that this is for the second time in mere two weeks duration that such a case has been encountered again.

However, Grieg Seafood has exclaimed that the results of the tests, carried out in order to confirm the presence of the virus haematopoietic necrosis at its Ahlstrom Point farm, near Sechelt, B. C., are not yet out and the agency has already isolated the site.

However, the agency notified that the action of official quarantine was implemented after a routine test carried out last week showed the presence of virus, although the presence was termed to be low. It has been notified that the farm is store house to about 310,000 coho.

In yet another case, a Tofino Farm Dixon Bay, was even quarantined. However, test results revealed that earlier this week the farm was emptied, after harvesting of more than 560,000 young Atlantic salmon. It has been notified that even the farm confirmed the presence of virus.

It has been unveiled that this virus has no effect on human health or food safety, but poses a major risk for aquatic life.
