A team of researchers from the University of California Irvine has found after a recent study that e-mails, if not accessed regularly or ignored collectively, can result in healthy heart rates.
Software was used by Professor Gloria Mark and other members in order to find out how often people switched from their work to checking of e-mails.
The team had conducted the study to look at the effects of emails on people’s health. The subject was important to study as more than 200 billion e-mails are sent and received across the internet each day.
For the study, 13 men and women who work on computers in offices were enrolled by the team. These men and women were amongst all professions from chemical engineers to psychologists, says the report.
It was found by the team that the ones having permission of bosses not to check inbox for five days at a time had good cardiovascular health. While the others who remained logged in all the time had ‘high alert’ heart rates. Further, the team has been concerning more because of increased use of smartphones that allow people to stay connected always.
Thus, limiting email access is being suggested by the researchers to employers as it would help keep heart rates well.
According to a new study, scientists have unraveled the mystery behind the sensation of itch. The scientists said that neurons that detect itch rely on a newly identified chemical that sends "I need to scratch" message to the brain. The study was conducted on mice.
