Group Gives Tips for Protection from Sunburns

Since the US Food and Drug Administration has delayed the introduction of new labels for sunscreens, says a new report, the Personal Care Products Council has been suggesting some preventive measures to consumers. It has been found that seeing the risk of facing a shortage by sunscreen manufacturers and considering their denial to make a move now, the FDA has extended the time till December.

However, the decision has been made by the FDA, Farah Ahmed from the council has but been asking people to use these with caution. This is because the season to use these products is mainly now i. e. June summers.

It is being claimed by Farah that consumers are being confused with a blend of old and new labels and thus, they should keep a few things in mind. She has recommended users to go for "broad spectrum" label as it is likely to prove that it offers enough protection from UVB and UVB rays.

Also, products with SPF 15 or higher are being suggested as it ensures protection from wrinkles and skin cancer as well along with sunburns. Deborah Sarnoff of the Skin Cancer Foundation in New York said, "Don't work on your tan. Work on protecting your skin and preventing skin cancer".
