As per recent reports, it has been proposed that a recent donation made at a ceremony for cancer sufferers has marked it as one of the largest donations ever made in the history of B. C.

It has been reported that the donation of $21-million was made by a Burnaby real estate tycoon Bill McCarthy. In a statement McCarthy asserted that his late grandfather always wanted to donate something to the country, in turn of what it had given them.

At a gathering at B. C. Cancer Agency Research Centre, McCarthy said, "My grandfather repeatedly told me that Canada has been so great to us that we can never ever repay Canada, though we try".

It has been discovered John Jambor, grandfather of McCarthy, immigrated to Canada from Central Europe in 1928, when he was a young man and had only a few dollars in his pockets. Further, it has been revealed that Mr. Jambor worked in Quebec and Ontario and then shifted to B. C. in the winter of 1948.

However, before he died at the age of 89, 21 years ago and before standing tall as a real estate agent in Burnaby, he informed his grandson to donate profusely to B. C. Cancer Foundation.
