Britons have been going through much more difficult situations than people in other European countries, a recent report has found.

As per the study conducted by a team of researchers from the charity Age Scotland, a large number of Britons feel lonelier and age discriminated. It is being said by the team that the figures revealed are not much surprising.

It is because it has been known since long that alcoholism is common in the country as well as the obesity rates and under investment in services by local authorities is on rising levels. Further, materially deprivation is another reason of their isolation, which is being faced by one in ten over-65s in Scotland.

Life-threatening illnesses are also being suffered by a majority of elderly in the nation. However, Germany, the Netherlands and Sweden are doing well in fighting these. Also, old-aged people in Britain are amongst the ones who are negative about youngsters.

Along with it, poverty is also a cause of their loneliness. On the contrary, Sweden holds the top position with healthiest elderly people.

“We know increased social interaction and more socializing between generations are hugely beneficial in combating not only loneliness, but also health problems”, said Chief executive David McCullough.
