NHS Hospital Canteens Providing ‘Unhygienic’ Food

While threats caused in NHS hospitals in Britain due to superbugs like MRSA and C. difficile have decreased by following certain measures, another peril has replaced the same, a new report finds.

It has been found that hundreds of hospitals’ canteens have been failing to provide a good hygiene level in food to patients. They have been supplying substandard foods, raising another risk for them to catch an infection and suffer severely.

However, hospitals took in notice the increasing number of patients due to infections caused by bugs and adopted some ways to tackle these. Health experts had asked each and every employee to wash hands before and after visiting wards.

Also, poor levels of cleanliness in hospitals’ wards have been improved. But, carelessness by kitchen in charges now has been threatening patients’ lives.

It is therefore being said that Health Secretary Andrew Lansley should take an immediate action and mess in-charges should be disciplined. They should maintain proper hygienic levels in food, says the report.

Also, government has announced a sum of £130billion to be spent on health department in the NHS this year.
