A recent report confirmed that the East Fremantle centre would not close down as anticipated. It was made possible after some $300,000 were raised by parents of the autistic children. Not even this, the centre could not manage to extract financial help from the government.
It was told that parents of some 35 pre-school aged children rallied for the same and raised the amount which would be able to let the LEARN centre for autistic children to work normally. While parents had called on for the government’s help, the government refused to do so.
"I would like to express my deepest thanks to every member of the community who supported us. To raise $300,000 in less than a week is an amazing effort and shows just how generous Western Australians are”, said Parent Simon Lewis, who believes that it was made possible after the general public paid heed to their woes.
With this, the children would be able to access the world class therapy which would be able to make a hell lot of difference in the life ahead. There are chances that the services would resume this week itself. With the news getting applauds from one and all, it would be worth seeing how things go from here on.
