Bumblebee Extinct Species Reintroduced in Britain after Two Decades

As per recent findings, it has been subjected that an extinct species has been reintroduced in Britain. It has been reported that approximately 24 years back bumblebee was categorized under the extinct species.

However, this Monday morning an estimated 50 short-haired bees were released in an English nature reserve.

After two decades of extinction from most of rural Britain, these bees are buzzing again. However, for them to thrive, proper environment have to be set.

However, at present ecologists are depending upon assurance by farmers, who state that they will grow certain species of flowers and plants that will be beneficial for the growth of these bees. This has been termed to be a project implemented for a substantial growth of the bees and also for them to sustain.

Nikki Gammans, who is leading the ambitious project, said, “Our farmland always used to have wild flower borders. We are just asking farmers to go back to the way things were, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive”.

It is being expected that if this act yields a positive result, soon these bees will be again buzzing across the countryside.

Previous reports suggest that population of these Bombus subterraneus followed the downward trend, after their habitats were destroyed across most of Europe.
