Woman In her 50s Dies Of Rabies

A recent report confirmed the death of the woman who was bitten by a rabid dog. She was on a holiday in Sorth Asia when she met with the unfortunate accident. While the identity of the woman was kept under wraps, it was told that she got the treatment at the Hospital for Tropical Diseases.

"We regret to announce that a patient being treated for rabies by the Hospital for Tropical Diseases and colleagues at University College Hospital died over the weekend”, said University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, in a statement.

It is believed that the woman might be of in her 50s and was admitted to A&E at the Darent Valley Hospital in Dartford before she was taken to the Hospital at London's Hospital for Tropical Diseases for the final diagnosis. It is believed that there are as many as 55,000 people who lose their life from the disease every year and most of the cases are reported in developing countries, particularly South and South-East Asia.

Family of the woman has requested the media not to interfere in this tough time and moreover, it has also been confirmed that they would not be revealing any further detail about the incident.
