FAA Permits for Launch of Test Flights

It has been revealed in a recent report that Scaled Composites of Mojave, California, has been granted the permit for an experimental launch of its spaceship.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has allowed the spaceship manufacturer on May 23, to continue with its powered flights. Also, the clearance for the launch has let the owner Virgin Galactic to integrate the rocket motor into the six-passenger vehicle SpaceShipTwo.

It is being said that the two-pilot spacecraft is created on the basis of the prototype SpaceShipOne. THE first one had won the Ansari X Prize in 2004, worth $10 million for being the first privately funded human space flights.

Both the companies have been glide-testing the SpaceShipTwo and have also planned the first launches carrying paying customers. It has been told that the spaceship is air-launched from a twin-fuselage carrier aeroplane.

However, the schedule for the first launches have not yet been planned, the same is being expected to take place after the accomplishment of the test programme.

It has been found that some 500 people have already registered with Virgin Galactic so as to grab the opportunity of experiencing weightlessness during suborbital flights.
