Google has been having its fair share of trouble in China. Over copyrights issue, it had to back out of the country two years ago. At that time, it was considered to be their boldest moves as the officials in Beijing were trying to put restriction over the online content.

But after two years, the company has come out with a new mechanism that would take of the issues dealt with certain sensitive items. The new mechanism would identify political and other sensitive terms that are censored by Chinese authorities and give out search results as per the restrictions. Earlier, if a user used to search an item that had some relation with the keywords that were restricted in mainland China then the users used to error messages like 'This webpage is not available' or 'The connection was reset’. This had impaired the image of the search engine in the region. To counter that, they have come up with a solution in which the user would be given a warning sign stating that the content has been restricted.

Google said the trigger terms that are in the new mechanism have been identified based on reviews of the outcomes of the 350,000 most popular search queries in China. However, they have not mentioned anything related to confirmation of Chinese Authorities.
