Holmes Positive for Heart Surgery

It has been found through a new report that Paul Holmes, 62, who has been diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy last week, is to undergo an open heart surgery on Wednesday.

The report says that Holmes was undergoing a more-routine operation in Auckland so as to get his problematic muscle killed. The procedure that involves the use of alcohol was stopped when his surgeons worried that the alcohol may leak and flow to healthy areas.

A Hastings cardiologist told him that his condition had got serious, as per the findings, and the Q+A host and radio broadcaster was then taken from Hawke's Bay to Auckland City Hospital.

It has been told that the man had also undergone a surgery in January for he had prostate cancer for more than a decade. “The surgery was to correct some old stuff following his earlier cancer treatment and radiotherapy which tends to churn things up inside'', said he.

Holmes would not be able to work for a period of two to three months, but he is positive for the operation to be conducted even after the failure of an unsuccessful standard heart procedure on Friday.
