A group of researchers from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says that almost all mothers however, dream of breastfeeding their babies for first three months, most of them often fail due to some or the other reason.

According to the report, while women are in favour of the recommendations of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the World Health Organization that babies should be breastfed for the first 6 months. Only one-third could follow the same.

CDC had carried out a study on nearly 1500 pregnant women, asking them about their plans of breastfeeding their babies take birth. The survey was conducted monthly the whole year, which showed that many reasons became a hindrance in their path to reach the goal.

It was noted that many times, hospitals themselves were causing problems for mothers of newborns. Babies were made to have some supplement to their breast milk, which caused nipple confusion and made it difficult to breastfeed later. Also, sometimes, smoking or obesity stopped mothers to breastfeed their babies.

Concerning the issue, the team suggests Baby-Friendly Hospital practices to be increased at priority.
