Meat Industries Adjourned to Test Beef Trimmings for Six Strains of E.coli Bacte

As per recent reports, government has declared that it will be expanding testing session for some raw meat. It has been reported that the step taken up by the government will help save lives of many people, who fall ill after contracting the bacteria and at times even lose their lives.

It has been revealed that as of now, meat industry will be held responsible for testing beef trimmings for sex strains of E. coli, which are potentially fatal and have been found to be a major cause behind an increased number of people falling ill.

Previous reports suggest that till now, the industry was test the beef was only one strain of the bacteria, termed as E. coli O157: H7. It has been discovered that the strain was identified when four children lost their lives following an outbreak at Jack in the Box fast-food restaurants.

However, it has been notified that since the past few years, overall a decline has been administered in illness cases related to the strain, but still majority of people are falling ill due to other strains present in foods such as lettuce and ground beef.

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack said, “The change is needed to protect Americans from food- borne illnesses”.
