A recent research claimed that dark chocolate can have some promising results to reduce the chances of heart attacks and strokes in some serious patients. It was claimed by a team of researchers from Australia that those who eat dark chocolate every day for 10 years can reduce the risk of heart attacks and strokes significantly.
The team had used a math model in order to understand the long term effects of daily dark chocolate consumption. There is need that extended research is being done on the same lines so that promising results can be derived from the same.
"We've predicted significant health benefits of eating 100 grams of dark chocolate everyday over a 10 year period. That's about the equivalent of one premium-quality block containing a minimum 70 per cent cocoa”, said the lead researcher, Ella Zomer, from Monash department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine in the journal BMJ last week.
There is no doubt that cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death worldwide and perhaps that’s what has caused so much stir. However, the team has made it clear that only dark chocolate is not being recommended and there is need for some sensible choices to be made along with it.
