As per recent reports, it has been revealed that the California Department of Public Health has fined six Southern California hospitals. They have been penalized for healthcare violations and it is said that the fine being charged is the maximum till date.
One of the hospitals has been fined $100,000, which is the highest amount that the state can impose. The hospital was asked to pay such a hefty sum as it failed to take right decision at the time of patient’s delivery. Resultant of which, the child was stillborn.
Experts were of the view that the incident occurred at the time when the Southwest hospital promised to improve the care. But, it failed to fulfill its promise and delivered a still born.
In addition, three other hospitals Kaiser Foundation in San Diego, USC's Keck Hospital in Los Angeles and the Motion Picture & Television Hospital in Woodland Hills, were also asked to pay fine, as they left medical equipments in patients while conducting surgeries on them.
State officials told that doctors in the first hospital left towel in a patient’s abdomen, which led to severe bleeding in patients. Doctors’ were unable to detect the towel for complete 16 months and after that they conducted an operation to take it out.
