As per reports, it has been revealed that experts advised that there should not be many cancer screening tests. Several studies have revealed that sigmoidoscopy should be given preference over colonoscopy for colon cancer screening.

In addition, mammograms should only be done after every two years among women, who were aged between 50 and 74, and the condition is not required for women, who are below 40 years. It has been found that lung cancer is only advisable for those who are chain smokers.

The United States Preventive Services Task Force has also revealed that Pap smear test should only be taken after the gap of three years and not after every year. Experts were of the view that it’s very hard to know the reason for which doctors, radiologists, urologists and physicians ask to get so many tests, when they know there is no such need for it.

It has been further revealed that screening is not that effective in preventing cancer. It is said that hundreds of screenings are being done to avoid one breast cancer. It would be better to adopt healthy lifestyle, so there is minimum scope of getting affected by any problem.
