Disney Says No To Airing Junk Food Ads

While so much is being said about avoiding junk foods especially for children, the Walt Disney Co. made it clear that they won’t be airing any ad showing junk foods for kids on TV, radio stations and websites. It would be done in an attempt to keep kids away from luring food items which are mostly unhealthy.

With First Lady Michelle Obama called it a "game changer", this move by the company has certainly caught the attention of one and all. Moreover, it has sent a clear message to others in children's entertainment industry that such moves are a must for being responsible towards the society as a whole.

"Just a few years ago if you had told me or any other mom or dad in America that our kids wouldn't see a single ad for junk food while they watched their favorite cartoons on a major TV network, we wouldn't have believed you”, claimed the US president, who is told to be spearheading the drive against child obesity.

It was further explained that all food stuff having in excess of 10 grams of sugar per serving would not be shown in ads and even there would not be any ad that air food with excess of 600 calories.

While these rules would take some more years to come into action, there is need for others in the same field to follow such measures for the betterment of the society.
