As per recent reports, it has been revealed that federal government has declared that it will ban use of street drug called bath salts. It has been reported that the government opted to take this action, after it was found that the usage of the drug led to psychotic behavior, which was potentially violent.
It has been recovered that the drug recently hit the headlines in Miami, after it was discovered that a man high on bath salts, ate flesh of a homeless man’s face. He had to be shot dead by police.
Health Minister Leona Agluk-kaq asserted that MDPV, which is a key ingredient of the bath salt, will be included in Canada's Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, the same category to which, even cocaine and heroin are added.
It is being expected that by fall, the ban will become officially legal. Further, it has been notified that last week, Canadian Centre on Sub-stance Abuse launched an alert against the use of bath salts. Moreover, it was notified that the drug is majorly sold online or by shops, which specialize in drug paraphernalia.
The alert said, “While the drug may resemble salts sold in bath and beauty stores, it is prepared in illicit labs and contains amphetamine-type stimulants”.
