While the news of doctors from the British Medical Association (BMA), kicking strike on June 21 has caught the attention of many, it is being time and again asserted by doctors that at no point they are going to compromise on patients' life. While non-urgent operations have been set aside, it was confirmed that there would not be any impact on urgent cases.
Nonetheless, there would be some impact felt by patients when they will not be attended on June 21. Somewhere down the line, even doctors are aware that patient care would be affected, they want to make it clear that they are not going against the Hippocratic Oath.
"We realise the action will disrupt the NHS, but the absolute top priority is patient safety. It won't be massively dissimilar to a bank holiday service. This is the only option left to try to get a fair deal", said a spokesperson from the BMA.
No matter, doctors have their own reasonable reason of taking this action as they are miffed with the government's attitude towards the NHS pension scheme, which as per the latest changes, would impose burden on doctors to shell out extra for pension. There is need that this matter is resolved else it can have some serious consequences in the future also.
