While there is so much being talked about distracted driving, it has been revealed in a government survey that in excess of half of high school seniors’ text while they drive. There is need to understand the severity of such attempts which can make things a lot difficult for teens, thereby causing accidents.

"We need to teach kids, who are the most vulnerable drivers that texting and driving don't mix”, said Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, who believes that such acts have gripped teens badly and there is need to draw a line before it’s too late.

It was revealed in the survey that there are some 43% of high school juniors who do the same while they drive. There is need for kids to understand that doing such acts, while they are driving, not only risk their life but others life can also be pushed to risk.

While some 39 states have banned texting under all age groups, there is need for some global solution to be developed as this problem is faced by almost all the countries around the world where texting and cell phone behind the wheel has become "a national epidemic”.

Pilot projects in Delaware and California are expected to take place soon so that this issue can be addressed on a broader level.
