While there is no doubt that obesity is making things all the more serious for countries around the world, it has been found that it is being treated as severe as smoking. However, the note worthy point is that both smoking and obesity are preventable, but still not much has been done in the same context.

As much as $58 billion is being imposed on Australia due to the rising health cost triggered due to obesity and that’s what makes it all the more urgent that something is being done to eradicate the scar.

It was claimed that due to the morbidity and cost linked with obesity, there has been significant pressure on Australian government to understand the severity of the condition and make it as a priority instead. Though there are ways and means to lose weight, it has been observed that not all are serious enough to bring in positive changes in their eating habits and lifestyle.

Apparently, Obesity (bariatric) surgery is being termed as the last resort for those who have tried but failed at all fronts to shed extra flab. However, opinion is divided on the same with experts claiming it as effective enough to last some 10 years, some are of the opinion that the surgery do have some side effects too such as bleeding, blood clots, infection, device or staple line failure.
