Georgia Officials On Alert After E. Coli Cases Hit 11

It seems that rise in the number of E. coli cases has brought the health official to front as they are doing all in their capacity to make sure that the epidemic doesn’t move further from here. There are confirmed reports of 11 such cases across four southern states, as per the Georgia officials.

It was on last Thursday that 21-month-old baby died due to the same at a hospital in New Orleans and her death was subsequently linked to some 10 cases in Georgia, Florida, Louisiana and Alabama.

"They are racing against the clock, they want to figure out what the product is, and get it out of the market before it sickens or kills anyone else”, said Bill Marler, food safety attorney, while making it clear that efforts are going on to nail down the actually source of infection so that steps can be taken in the same direction.

There is need to find the source so that such cases further can be averted before its kills someone else. While there are chances that it might be some food source, there is yet to be evidence found in the same context. Nonetheless, safety experts are of the view that it’s always better to avoid eating undercooked ground beef in the first place and maintaining a safe level of hygiene.
