Smoking is an issue that has concerned a lot of people all across the globe. It is considered a very bad habit that not only affects the person who smokes but also those who are nearby due to second hand smoke. There have been many campaigns and techniques that have come out to help smokers quit this menace. Some people have also gone to rehabs to make sure that they quit smoking.

But a study published in Nicotine and Tobacco Research has come up with a solution that is not only easy but also healthy and nutritious. The study states that fruits and vegetables may help smokers quit the habit.

The researchers came to this conclusion after observing over 1,000 adult smokers aged 25 and older. They surveyed them on their smoking habits and recalled them 14 months later to find out that how they were doing. They then questioned on how much they had smoked in the past months. To their shock, the researchers found out that people who quit smoking for less than six months ate more fruits and vegetables than people who still smoked. Overall, they found that smokers who ate the most fruits and vegetables were three times more likely to be tobacco-free for a full month than smokers who ate the least.
