It seems that there is dire need to bring in some changes in the current alcohol strategy as it has been claimed by doctors and charity groups that UK alcohol marketing rules must follow that of the French regulation. As per the French regulation, any kind of advertising related with alcohol in prohibited in sport and music events.

The same has been suggested by the Alcohol Health Alliance (AHA), including the British Medical Association and 8 royal colleges, to the health select committee which is supposedly investigating the strategies adopted by the government. It is to be noted that alcohol claims some 15,000 lives a year and is the major reason of death among men.

There is dire need to protect children from the exposure of such content which more or less can harm them. Instead of luring them into such advertisements, it is required that sports and music events are kept at a safe distance from alcohol brands.

It is expected that on June 12, MPs will look into all the evidence available into the matter so that something can be done in the same context. While Scotland would have freedom to devise its own policies, there would be decision taken in the same context for England and Wales by the committee.
