ACT Says Surgery Waiting Lists Have Improved

It has been revealed by Chief Minister Katy Gallagher that the waiting times for surgeries have improved in the last decade significantly.

The report says that patients in need of a surgery were made to wait long by hospitals in Canberra, which sometimes also caused them to die to suffer critical conditions. However, efforts made by the ACT Government have brought improvements in the situation.

Ms. Gallagher has told that the overall number of waiting patients has fallen down reaching 3,812, less than all figures noted in previous ten years. Also, only 5% postponed surgeries have been noted this year as compared to
9.5% reported during 2010-2011.

The worse situation was due to a mix queue of non-urgent and urgent surgeries. It is being said by the ACT Government that the notable enhancements are an outcome of strict raids being carried out by it with elective surgery waiting list.

"These results are achieved because of the hard work and commitment of nurses, doctors and health professionals who strive to set new benchmarks and continue to deliver the best health outcomes for Canberra and the region", Katy Gallagher concluded.
