Settlement of Oceania Pay Dispute

Settlement of Oceania Pay Dispute

It has been revealed in a recent report that the pay dispute going on between staff and management of the Oceania rest home group has been successfully resolved after a long while.

As per the findings, the dispute between the New Zealand Nurses Organization and Serviced and Food Workers Union and Oceania has been possible after the declaration of a 3.22% pay increase for the 1500 Oceania union members.

It is being said that the pay scale of the 70 employees working in Palmerston North, Dannevirke and Pahiatua has also been increased. The deal has been made with the huge support from public for the workers in smaller centres. It has also been reported that the settlement of the issue has managed to end overtime rates as well.

"It took a long time to convince Oceania that they, first and foremost, had to pass on the public money they get to staff'', said Alastair Duncan, a spokesman for the union.

Also, he has affirmed that the strike action has finally ended when workers of the largest private aged-care provider in the country showed their commitment to patients.
