The Federal Mental Health Minister Mark Butler announced that in order to reduce the pressure on the Princess Margaret's emergency department, they are going to open a new health facility at Perth. The facility will provide 24 hours service to children, who have been affected by mental health issues.

The announcement had the support of the state and federal governments. The funding will help children to get personalized treatment at a facility which will remain open for them for 24 hours.

"The Australian Government is providing $13.5 million to fund a 24 hour acute response team that will be able to respond to the needs of those children”, said Butler. The future of the specialized mental health facility will see about 1,400 children under the age of 17 to be getting mental health treatments.

The funding is said to be the part of $26 million scheme being issued by the National Partnership Agreement on Mental Health. Maim aim of the agreement was to bring a decline in the number of children, who need to be admitted in emergency care for mental health issues.
