Berrow and Burnham Fundraising Group to hold tea party for Marie Curie Cancer Ca

With the months of June and July marking that launch of Marie Curie Cancer Care’s Blooming Great Tea Party campaign for fundraising, a tea party for the charity will be organized by the Berrow and Burnham Fundraising Group on June 23.

The Saturday afternoon tea party meet will be hosted by New Cote, in Brent Road, Berrow, from 2pm to 5pm. Those interested to know the details about the campaign can either visit the ‘www. mariecurie. org. uk/teaparty’ website or call 08700 340040 for more information.

The tea party event is held by the supported of Marie Curie Cancer Care; and the fundraising at the event results from the fact the supported invite their friends round for a cup of tea and a slice of cake to help fund the charity. The funding helps provide more Marie Curie Nursing, with the charity revealing that every £20 which is raised at the teat party helps pay for one hour of nursing.

Noting that Marie Curie nurses provide at-home care to patients suffering from terminal illnesses like cancer, the Berrow and Burnham Fundraising Group’s chairwoman Hilary Cox said that though the nursing service is free to the patients and their family, it involves a cost of ‘£20 per hour’ to fund this service.

Revealing that the Berrow and Burnham Fundraising Group expects to raise enough funds to pay for two weeks of nursing care, Cox said: “We hope people will come along and support the event, so we can raise as much as possible.”
