How fair it is to force fed a mental ill patient? This is what has caught the attention of one and all after a UK judge claimed that the 32-year-old anorexic woman must be fed forcefully so that she can live. It was told by Justice Peter Jackson that the woman have chances of surviving and that’s what calls for saving her life even if it’s against her wishes as she is not in the condition to make a good decision for her life.
While the family believes that the lady must be given the choice to take the final call, the judge has made it clear that there are chances of her life being worth living in the time to come.
“We feel she has suffered enough. She stands no hope of achieving the things that she would value in her life and shows no signs of revising these aspirations”, said her family. It has been told that the woman has not eaten anything solid in the last one year and that’s what deteriorated her condition further though she has been cutting down her diet since the age of 11.
While identity of the woman has been kept under covers, she is reported to be under a palliative care regime. There is need to sort this matter and give the lady a fair judgment which can do best for her.
