While it is being suggested by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation that parents should get their children circumcised, the report reveals that a majority of parents are unconvinced, a study published on Monday in the journal Pediatrics has revealed.

As per the donors, the procedure of circumcision is helpful in reducing the risk of contracting H. I. V. It cuts the risk by 60% in heterosexual men.

A study carried out at five hospitals in Kenya where circumcision was not practiced though, the surgery was received by some 235,000 men. The review including around 627 mothers and 493 fathers found that the surgery needed some crucial factors to be fulfilled.

The first one was to determine if the father had received the procedure. And the second one was the approval for circumcision from both the parents.

However, the procedure has become easier and simpler with time, says the team of authors. It is now faster with the availability of a nearby medical care and the wound care has also become easy.

Also, those who had got their child circumcised gave positive response saying the surgery helps men in getting more pleasure during intercourse. Parents but often refuse the same for newborns saying it is risky and painful.
