Chief executive of Dumfries and Galloway Health Board has accepted that he did not take care of his pet and left him alone without food and water at his residence in 2011. Mike Keggans, 49, accepted the charges and has been fined £900 for negligence.

In a recent activity, it has been further revealed that he has resigned from his post, and his resignation has been accepted by Health Secretary Nicola Sturgeon. Sturgeon was of the view that she has accepted the resignation of Keggans.

Keggans was handling the post since 2008, but till the time a new chairman is not found to handle the position, Andrew Johnston, who is vice-chairman of health board, will handle the job. Sturgeon said that recruitments for the same will be done by the end of this year, and till that time, Andrew will be handling the position.
