Health Restructure May Affect Services in Worcestershire

A report has uncovered that the major reforms being made in the healthcare in Worcestershire can lead to downgrading of many services at hospitals.

Health experts are concerned regarding the delivery of health services from 2015, until when healthcares would have realized a huge cut.

However, various plans are being made in order to maintain excellent provision of services in future as well. Six different models have been prepared by health chiefs as a part of the Joint Services Review, which assure possible strong hold on A&E departments at Worcestershire Royal and The Alexandra Hospital in Redditch.

But, financial stress has been risking the same, says the report. It is being said that the ageing population in the country as well as cuts being introduced by the government would result in dissatisfactory services. Also, it might lead to the closure of an accident and emergency department in the county.

It is also being said that the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals Trust would even face difficulties in the appointment of more consultants due to the shortfall.

"When we get into the financial modelling what people imagine the results will be, it could be very different”, said Chris Fearns, JSR project director.
