While varied campaigns are run and events are organized for supporting cancer patients and encouraging them to fight, the same only majorly works in urban regions, says a recent report. It is thus that Kate Gunn, a country girl, has developed a website that aims to help poor people.
The psychology graduate is a PhD student and is also to complete her Masters of Clinical Psychology in coming eight months.
The young adult from Adelaide has developed the website named Country Cancer Support so that rural cancer patients could also be able to fulfill their psychosocial needs.
As per the girl’ belief, cancer patients suffer a shock when diagnosed with the disease and sometimes also lose hope due to high treatment costs. And the travelling for seeing a GP even burdens them with additional costs that are extremely high.
Thus, the website would be a great help as it would contain proper information on “how to cope and who can help” and patients would easily access the same online.
“This website is based on what country cancer patients have told me they wish they knew earlier and what they think other people like them should be told soon after being diagnosed”, says Kate.
