A recently revealed report published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism suggests men at high risks of getting osteoporosis should go for a screening for its early diagnosis on an immediate basis.

The suggestion comes from a Clinical Practice Guideline "Osteoporosis in Men” by the Endocrine Society, finds the report. The guideline strictly recommends those with any of the disease’s symptoms to undergo bone mineral density (BMD) test. The test is conducted with dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA).

It has been told by a Task Force appointed by the society that one in every five men in their 50s tends to suffer from an osteoporosis-related fracture once in a lifetime. Also, the men are at high risk of facing death due to the same as compared to women.

The same is the reason that men, 70 and older, as well as those between 50 and 69 years are being asked on priority to get the tests. The symptoms include prior fracture as an adult, hypogonadism or hyperthyroidism, or low body weight, told the group.

Along with it, it is being suggested that those with low vitamin D levels should first prefer taking vitamin D supplementation. And the ones with low weight should try weight-bearing exercise.
