A national survey revealed some shocking facts about the health and safety of those who are serving healthcare system some or the other way like nurses, doctors and community service workers. It was claimed by a team from the University of Sydney along with the Australian Research Council and Unions NSW.
For the research, some 8000 workers were roped in to know a lot more about their experience in terms of workplace safety. “I think there's a stereotype about what an unsafe workplace is - it's a coal mine which is going to fall on top of people, or they're going to get poisoning of some kind, or fall off a multi-storey building”, said Sydney University research director Professor John Buchanan, while announcing the results at a workplace health forum in Sydney on Wednesday.
There is lingering fear in the minds of workers about their own safety and health and it has gone to the extent that they feel that construction employees are a lot safer than them.
There is no doubt that stress does affect health care workers and others and that’s what has caused enough damage to their own health. There is need to find some way out so that those who are extending their services for others are being given the best possible environment to work.
