5% Cancer Deaths Are Work Related

In a shocking revelation, it has been revealed that about 5% of all cancer deaths are linked to kind of jobs one do. As per a study, it has been revealed that more than 8,000 cancer deaths have taken place in Britain due to peoples’ job profile.

By it, the study researchers believe that over exposure to products like asbestos and other pollutants can increase the risk of cancer. Lead author of the study Dr. Lesley Rushton, who is an occupational epidemiologist at Imperial College London, was of the view that in order to reach at the above given result, they assessed the data being compiled by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC).

They listed factors that can increase the risk of cancer among people. After assessing all the factors, they got to know about 13,600 new types of cancers and also got to know that 8,000 people have lost their lives due to work related cancer.

"The cancer with the greatest number of cases and deaths linked to work is lung - a disease which is hard to detect early and has poor survival”, said Rushton. It was found that sun exposure, night shifts, and mine work caused maximum deaths.
