It seems that time is going to be a lot tough for Swiss pharmaceutical giant Roche as it has been claimed that it could not confirm the side effects of medicines. It was found by inspectors of the European Medicines Agency (EMA) that the company failed miserable to inform about the potential side effects of drugs. It is known that EMA is just like the US Food and Drug Administration, which keeps a track on drugs and its side effects.
There were some 80,000 such reports for medicines were nabbed, which made it all the more clear that there has been laxity performed by the company. It was indeed their duty to make sure that any flick of doubt about the side effects of medicines is being shared with EU authorities.
"These included 15,161 reports of death of patients and it is not known whether the deaths were due to natural progression of the disease or had a causal link to the medicine”, said the EMA, while claiming that there is nothing much to worry about patients being at suffering end. Investigation over the same has been kick started to avert any potential damage. The company has accepted their mistakes and assured to work on the concerns raised before it’s too late.
