Alcohol-Related Injuries on the Rise

A recent report claimed that there are rising number of alcohol related injuries and that’s what making things all the more serious is. With as much as 40% such cases flooded at A&E, there is need for steps to be taken in the same context. On the same lines, Morriston Hospital A&E consultant Mike McCabe has come out to express concerns. Some 2 million people do visit emergency department for the same in England and Wales each year.

"If you take new year, rugby international weekends and warm summer evenings when people are drinking a lot, trauma, falls and fights go up to that level”, said Mike McCabe in Emergency Medicine Journal.

It is believed that average rate of boozing related admissions is some 14%, though there has been a drop seen in serious cases.

It is believed that somehow good policing had done a great job in trimming down the number of such cases and that’s what needs to be done regularly in future too. There can be many problems due to alcohol like chronic alcohol abuse, liver and stomach problems, and that’s what calls for moderate drinking.

There is dire need to take serious note of the same so that alcohol rate can be controlled before things go out of hands.
