Parents Must Be Wary Of Cheap Toys

There is need for parents to be careful while their kids play with toys having magnets. This issue caught the attention after it was reported that two children had gulped down magnets and had to go through surgery for the same.

It was reported that among the two cases, one had swallowed 10 small magnetic spheres, while the second one had taken two 2 cm-long magnetic strips. It is required that parents do keep an eye on kids while they are playing before they end up harming themselves.

“Parents should be warned of the risk of magnet ingestion, particularly in small children. We believe that improvement in public awareness about this risk will be key in preventing such incidents”, said Dr Anil Thomas George, of Queen's Medical Centre at Nottingham University Hospitals in the UK, while claiming that there is need for such toys to be banned before they can create havoc in the life of innocent kids.

There have been cases heard in the US and Canada, where kids have been heard of taking such magnets accidently. While it is quite obvious that kids do have the tendency to gulp down whatever comes in their hands, there is need for parents to remain alert to the same.
