With running National Breastfeeding Week, there are rising calls on making women more aware about breastfeeding their newborn babies at least for the first six months. It has been said so many times that mothers’ milk is good for babies to fight against range of infections.
On the same lines, it is believed that breast pumps must be used for babies. There are basically two types of breast pumps- electric and manual. There is need for women to be careful while they are buying breast pumps.
Though there are women who face problems in breastfeeding their babies, it is believed that there is need for such women to shrew their health concerns with their doctors so that a best possible solution can be found out.
“We have a generation of women who have grown up in a bottle feeding culture and there seems to be a general lack of support and information for new mothers who wish to breastfeed”, said Breastfeeding counsellor Maddie MacMahon.
If reports from the Department of Health are to be referred to, it was claimed that some 75% of new mothers’ breastfeed their babies from birth while 47% continue with the same for six to eight weeks later. There is need for women to give their babies the best possible nutrition at nascent stage of their life.
