It seems there is no early relief for Perth cardiologist Keith Woollard as he is yet come out clean of the charges of carelessness imposed some six years ago. it was told that in August 2006, he had performed a heart surgery on a 70-year-old woman at the Mount Hospital, but later it was told that he had somehow over-inflated a catheter balloon, thereby tearing the woman’s artery.
Though the woman got fine after open heart surgery, it was revealed that role of the doctor caught the attention of authorities concerned, thereby leading to suspension by the State Administrative Tribunal.
While the man in question has denied doing the same, he would have to wait for some more time before final call would be taken on the case. It is expected that the hearing would be held on Tuesday.
He has also been ordered to present detailed reports to the Medical Board which would include how he treats his patients. Meanwhile, investigation would continue on the same. he was in news earlier also due to his son’s involvement in a legal case, though the case was settled out of court. It would be interesting to see what future holds for Dr. Woollard.
