While there is no doubt that cancer has gripped the nerves of almost all countries around the world, a recent report claimed that affective screening methods and rise in awareness level would play key role in addressing the concern. On the same lines, the report released from the Cancer Institute of NSW also revealed that as compared to survival rate of 49% in 1982, the survival rate has risen to 64 now.
While there has been improvement made in case of breast and prostate cancer cases, there is a lot to be done to make prognosis of liver, lung and pancreas cases better. This report has once again proved that more and more people are becoming aware of their bodies and are conscious of cancer.
“This shows that people are listening to the message of medical professionals and getting checked regularly if they are experiencing problems which are out of the ordinary”, said Urologist Dr Raymond Stanton, who is pleased with the report.
However, things are not going that fine in NSW as there are damaging lifestyle factors which are dominating people’s life. It has also been claimed by the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare that there can be rise of 40% seen in the number of new cases by 2020.
