Recently, the officials of Health Trust in Worcestershire conducted a meeting with the representatives of the public. The aim of the meeting was to come to the conclusion over the closure of accident and emergency ward and of one maternity ward.

The closure of the wards was proposed by the authorities with the hope of minimizing escalating expenditure. The officials asked the public to suggest and vote for the closure of the wards. The meeting between the officials and public representatives would decide whether the wards should be closed down or not.

There are few who have opposed the idea of shutting down the wards. It is believed that the closure of the wards would force the patients to travel long distances. Therefore, the closure of the wards has been opposed.

It has come to light that about 4,000 people have asked the authorities to scrap the proposal. It is believed that in the meeting the health officials would elaborate the plan to the representatives for better understanding of the plan.

David Law from Redditch and Bromsgrove clinical commissioning board said, “We want to be open and transparent and say: 'Look, there are difficulties that need to be resolved', and we need to do that together to work out what the best options are”.
