A team of researchers has revealed that dementia patients might have to live without sex in nursing homes. It has been claimed by the team from the Australian Centre for Evidence-Based Aged Care at La Trobe University in Melbourne.

"There is no reason why people can't enjoy a healthy sex life until the day they die and it's been shown to be hugely important to psychological and physical wellbeing”, said Dr. Laura Tarzia, in the Journal of Medical Ethics.

It has been claimed that doing sex in nursing homes by dementia patients is being considered as taboo and that’s what makes their life all the more miserable. It was also said that in case some staff members spots any such patient developing liking for any other patient, then their family is being informed. It’s on after family is not that happy with such relation that those involved patients are being kept apart.

It is also believed that there are not many people who believe that elders must be given freedom of expressing such feelings. There is need to change such attitude which some or the other way, making things all the more serious for dementia patients.
