A team of researchers from the Gluten Intolerance Group has been claiming that those with celiac disease can now have another dinner alternative, which is completely free of gluten, as per a recent report.

"Green banana has bioactive compounds and resistant starch that are good for intestine health. Usually celiac patients develop intestine problems if they don't follow the correct diet", says Raquel Botelho, a nutritionist.

Celiac disease is a condition that makes people’s immune system to react to gluten, which is largely found in rye or wheat. Found n almost 1% of Americans, the disease occurs in those who consume foods with gluten. The development of the condition causes one to get his small intestine damaged and do not absorb nutrients.

Raquel and her colleagues from the University of Brasilia had conducted a test to examine pasta made up of flour of egg whites, water and ground bananas. Since, it is prepared differently from wheat pasta. It was then found that a majority of the participants with celiac disease liked its taste.

It is thus being said that in order to bring a cut in the number of sufferers, people with the disease should be given products made of green banana flour like biscuits, pizza dough and bread.
