Refugees to Be Withdrawn From Free Health Service Plans

It has been reported that Ontario’s Health Minister has expressed her support to the national campaign against the proposed cuts in the health services for refugees. The Health Minister, Deb Matthews has written a letter to Federal Health Minister asking to do away with the proposed plans.

In the letter, Mathews wrote, “By abdicating your responsibility toward some of the most vulnerable in our society, you have effectively downloaded federal costs onto the provincial health-care system”. The letter was written on Wednesday.

If the decision is not reverted before Saturday then the cuts would be imposed on the health services of refugees. It has further come to light that as changes in the health services, refugees would not be provide with health services unless and until their illness shows threat to public.

Most of the refugees are residing in Ontario. Changes in the health services would adversely affect the health of refugees. If the government is allowed to go ahead with the plans then in the coming time refugees might be adversely affected with life threatening diseases like heart problems. It has come to light that a Toronto hospital spends $1.3 million every year over the care of refugees.
