Reports submitted recently by MPs and peers have showcased some terrible facts of the so-called barriers to dementia diagnosis.

The barriers here in the news are none other than the long waiting hours that still people suffering from dementia has to face today for their illness diagnosis and treatment.

Reports have shown data talking about a big number of patients, who have to face shockingly long hour delays to get their dementia diagnosed and treated. MPs and peers allege GPs to be the biggest barriers to any such diagnosis, confirms the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Dementia.

A year is a common waiting length of a patient, sometimes some people have to wait even more than a year to get an appointment from a memory clinic, reveals the report, whereas on the other hand, the Department of Health in England confirms an improvement in the number of memory services.

Officials have set up an inquiry to uncover the facts related the issue. Hopes are higher to soon clear all the big discrepancies in dementia diagnosis rates.

Mr. Jo Webber, from the NHS Confederation, said "It is quite clear that every part of the health service is going to have to adapt to the needs of this growing group of patients - from the GP surgery to the hospital ward.
